Third Annual Art for Hope Fundraising Gala

ABOUT THE EVENT

If you have attended either of the past two Art for Hope events, you should note that this year's event has moved from Josh's Hope facilities in Hillsborough to the Shared Visions Retreat Center (aka Old Murphey School), at 3717 Murphy School Rd., Durham 27705.  While it's a Durham address, it's actually in Orange County at the Hillsborough-Durham line, corner of old NC Hwy 10 and Murphy School Road. The fundraiser will take place on Saturday, April 11th, 5:00-7:30pm. The evening will offer a live auction, a raffle, delicious food and cash bar. Musical entertainment will be provided by guitarist-vocalist Gary Mitchell with a guest performance by vocalist Megan Gifford.

Most of the items in the live auction and raffle are original works by regional and nationally recognized artists and craftspeople. This year, a large number of items were handcrafted in the Tools for Hope workshop at JHF. There are also a few antiques in this year's auction that have been carefully restored in the T4H workshop following recommended techniques for antique furniture refinishing. Between the live auction and raffle, there's something for everyone.

Tickets are just $25 and include one complimentary raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets are just $5 each and for every five tickets purchased, you receive one additional ticket, free.

Use the link above or below to purchase tickets -or- to reserve your seat and pay at the door. For questions or other information, email Steve Bailey at info@joshshopefoundation.org or call 919.245.0072.

If you're unable to attend but want to support the organization you can make a donation online or shop the retail store at www.joshshopefoundation.org.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Josh's Hope Foundation, Inc. (JHF), was established in 2009 and formally incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 2010. The mission of the organization is to bridge gaps in services for young adults living with a mental health condition.

Two years ago, JHF developed the Tools for Hope (T4H) program. It's a vocational training program teaching participants woodworking skills in fine carpentry and general construction and other skills, such as instruction in Independent Life Skills (ILS) and job preparedness. The program also provides therapeutic supports with our clinical director who engages with clients in both individual and group therapy every week. Each client's mental wellness and success in the community is paramount to the goals of the program.

One in five adults struggle with a mental health condition. Only about 40-percent of people with mental illness seek treatment. The two major reasons why people don't seek treatment is due to the stigma associated with having a mental illness and financial barriers. Adults living with mental illness are at greater risk of being jobless, homeless or estranged from their families than someone without a mental health condition.

Programs at Josh's Hope help improve the quality of lives of participants by teaching them skills for success, connecting them to vital resources, employment opportunities, reducing risk factors around homelessness and repeated hospitalizations while changing outcomes in positive ways.

Thank you for supporting programs at Josh's Hope Foundation, Inc.
