The Mid-America Library Alliance's harassment prevention training specifically for libraries may help you fulfill your annual training requirements and assist you in preventing frivolous lawsuits. Presented in a webcast format, there are both Staff and Supervisor versions of the training.

Presenter Tiffany Hentschel, SPHR, has worked in Human Resources in the public sector for over 20 years, with more than nine years at the Johnson County Library. She has facilitated training for MALA, Kansas State Library, Mid-America Regional Council, Sunflower Consultants, and several Kansas and Missouri libraries.
Webcast Running Times:
These webcasts are presented as videos, and viewers may pause during the presentation. If the presentation needs to be restarted after being stopped completely or logged out, the stopping point is not saved. However, viewers are able to scroll the video to where they left off.
In addition to the basic webcast supported by MOSL, MALA also offers an enhanced version of both the Harassment Prevention for Library Staff and the Harassment Prevention for Library Supervisors workshops. The customizable online webcasts include a testing mechanism and reporting system. Libraries have the opportunity to choose questions that meet their individual needs. Additionally, libraries can add their own policy to the end of the webcast. And finally, MALA can generate reports for the library on who has taken and/or completed the webcast with their test scores. If your library is interested in providing this enhancement to your harassment training contact Kirsten Myers at kirstenmyers@midamericalibraryalliance.org or 1-866-600-9699 for more information and cost.
