A Shared Legacy Tour: Three of the South’s Greatest Gardeners

Join Wing Haven for a fresh look at Elizabeth Lawrence, Thomas Jefferson and J.C. Raulston, and their extraordinary contributions to the world of Southern horticulture. Even those already familiar with these gardening greats will gain new appreciation of their shared legacy. This is an unprecedented opportunity to see - from the intimate perspective of the gardens' curators - the grounds that grew their success.

We are thrilled to be able to offer an inspiring 3-day/2-night trip of in-depth behind-the-scenes tours of amazing gardens, plus fine dining and plenty of shopping! Includes 2-night stay at the Omni in Charlottesville, chartered bus transportation, breakfast, lunch and one-night's dinner. Limited to first 25 reservations.

Day1: We'll kick things off in Charlotte at the Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden, where you'll spend the morning in conversation with Garden Curator Andrea Sprott. See the world of Elizabeth Lawrence and her research - an incredible database that informed her award-winning writing. Board a chartered bus to Charlottesville; dinner at the historic Ivy Inn.

Day 2: Spend the day enjoying the rich history and beautiful fall colors of the Shenandoah Valley as we learn about Thomas Jefferson's Monticello with Curator of Plants, Peggy Cornett.

Day 3: Board the bus for J.C. Raulston Arboretum, where we'll enjoy a lively tour with Director Mark Weathington. Added Bonus: Guided tour of Montrose in Hillsboroough, NC, by the property's owner and garden writer, Nancy Goodwin, who also co-edited Elizabeth Lawrence's last manuscript, "A Rock Garden in the South".
