I write with our plans for the remaining four Women's Evening Retreats this season. I'm calling our program Fearless & Free, Part II: The Workshop. The Fearless & Free workbook is incredibly rich, and I know that many of you haven't had the opportunity to complete all the lessons. Thus, the idea is to make use of our workbooks by reviewing certain questions and passages and by putting some of the training exercises for spiritual warrior princesses into action.
March 19: Confession & Adoration
We'll draw on Lessons four, five, and six for an evening of Reconciliation and Adoration. In day five of Lesson four, Mature, Lisa provides a list to help us "get moving up the hill." She asks the Holy Spirit to convict her of secret sins and she vows to go to confession. In the prayer that concludes Lesson 5: The Wrestling, we are likewise encouraged to emerge from the shadowlands of sin.
Finally, you might review the prayer at the end of Lesson 6. Lisa quotes Saint John Bosco who writes about the importance of Adoration in his memoirs. "Do you want our Lord to grant you many graces? Visit Him often…Visiting the Blessed Sacrament is essential if you want to overcome the Devil. Therefore make frequent visits to Jesus. If you do that, the Devil will never prevail against you."
As usual, we'll be begin with mass and dinner. We'll follow up with a brief talk on confession and then we'll have the opportunity to confess ourselves and to adore the Blessed Sacrament.
April 16: Holy Week Healing Support Group
Erin Keller will introduce the reading method she has devised for the Healing Support Group. After mass and dinner, we'll break into small groups and let the gospel speak to us. This week we'll make use of Fr. John Bartunek's "The Better Part: A Guide to Scripture". Review Lesson four and Ephesians four where the emphasis is on community.
May 28: Iconography, Meditation, and the Rosary
To honor our Lord's mother, this meeting will focus on the rosary to honor our Lord's mother. We'll return to the prayer request pages in our workbooks to transform our troubles into petitions to the Blessed Virgin. Then I will walk everyone through a meditation with some famous paintings. Praying the rosary as a group is all the more powerful so be ready to free yourself of cares, doubts, and woes.
June 18: Scripture Memory
We'll make use of Appendices five & six, the "I-Declares" and "Scripture Memory," in order to sharpen our swords on the word of God. Please bring a bible along with your Fearless & Free Workbook.
