This seminar is recommended for all parents and staff helping children with autism.  The class discusses Natural Environment Teaching (NET) in home-based  intervention programs for children with Autism. Whether you are looking to augment your existing program with Natural Environment Teaching strategies or you are starting from day one, this powerful method is a must for learning how to capture all the teachable moments in a child’s day.

When working with individuals with Autism, making quality “work” feel like “play” is the pinnacle of good intervention. Natural Environment Teaching combines the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with the art of capturing motivation and engagement.  Practitioners and parents who do it well have learned how to squeeze the most learning out of everyday life.

Saturday, October 25, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

What topics are covered?

This class will discuss the fundamentals of NET, strategies for utilizing this powerful teaching strategy with your existing program goals, tips for planning an NET lesson, and what sets it apart from other intervention strategies.

This class is an interactive presentation that includes group activities and video examples and useful handouts.  This class is focused on the work of therapists with children affected by autism, but we encourage anyone else who is interested to attend, including parents, family members, paraprofessionals and therapists.
