Come work with master basket weaver, Peeta, from the Pacific Northwest!
In this 8 hour workshop students will learn how to make a basic basket using over under and basic twining weaving techniques. Students first basket will start off with a pre-woven base and learn how to weave and shape the sides of the basket.
You can expect ample hands on instruction with Peeta! Each basket will be finished off with a simple border at the top. Then the second basket will be started from scratch by students. Materials may be taken home by each student to start and complete another basket while the techniques are fresh at hand!
Workshop for adults, ages 18 & up.
Beginning basket makers welcome and encouraged. No experience required.
Other Details:
-Cost $120.00 per student
-10 student minimum/maximum with pre registration required.
-Students will receive a basket workshop outline. This will include the color photo of the small baskets attached to this email, all materials used during class and references to books for basketry instructions.
-Workshop 10AM-6PM
-Tuition and weaving materials included in cost.
-No need to bring tools. They will be provided for use during class.
-Some hand strength is required.
-Catalogs will be provided for students to take home for where to order materials for future projects.
-Students need to bring a sack lunch.
-During lunch I will give a brief 10 to 15 minute presentation about my basket work.
-At the end of class students are welcome to take enough materials to start and complete another basket at home.
