THIS IS A MUST DO COURSE FOR STREET COPS!
This Basic Interview and Interrogation course is designed to provide officers with a further understanding of both the standard field interview as well as the more complex in-custody interrogation. The class will prepare officers by giving them practical tools and information to assist them with both day-to-day operations as well as preparing them for work in investigations. The course will cover basic interviews with witnesses and victims, building rapport, verbal and non-verbal cues and behavior, being an effective listener, the legalities and technical aspects of Miranda, and common barriers and obstacles. The class will briefly discuss interrogations of suspects, to include specific themes, bridges, and rewards to aid in obtaining the best and most reliable information possible.
The course is geared towards patrol officers, supervisors, or those new to investigations. Students at all levels or work experience will benefit from various aspects of the course, as it will provide information across multiple topics. The course will focus on legal aspects to make sure that all statements obtained, at any level, will be admissible and reliable at trial.
