The Federal Bureau of Investigation is conducting a 40-hour Regional Crisis Negotiation Course, designed to provide law enforcement officer with a basic understanding of the philosophy and components of effective crisis negotiation. The course combines classroom learning and practical exercises. the classroom instruction will focus on fundamentals of crisis negotiation, active listening skills, the tactical role of the negotiators, suicide assessment and intervention, high risk indicators and team protocol. Practical exercises are incorporated into the course. These involve a variety of scenarios designed to encourage the use of active listening skills in a variety of crisis settings.
