POLICE AND THE MEDIA

Law enforcement is under the media microscope. Every action, interaction, policy, and police officer have the potential to put your agency on the front page. Internet news sites and social media have created never-ending news cycles that change like the weather.

This course will teach you how to not only survive in this new media environment—but to thrive.

You’ll learn to work with reporters on a reactive and proactive basis. You’ll learn to package, pitch and place positive stories. You’ll learn how to leverage the power of social media to amplify positive media coverage. You’ll learn how to work with the media during a crisis. Most importantly, you’ll learn to use the media as a tool to tell your story.
