Community Development Philanthropy

Guest Speaker:  Don Macke, Center for Rural Entrepreneurship

Join community foundations to hear about the new Curriculum Guide designed to empower them to energize philanthropy in their communities. Learn how community foundations can engage communities to optimize their philanthropic opportunities through the marriage of community philanthropy with strategic community development.

This Guide was developed in partnership with some of America's leading community philanthropy experts including Donnell Mersereau (formerly with the Michigan Council of Foundations), Janet Topolsky (Aspen Institute) and Dougl Friedli (formerly with Nebraska Community Foundation).  The intent of Community Development Philanthropy (CDP) is to help communities, both rich and poor, optimize their transfer of wealth opportunity through increased community giveback.  Every community has under-developed potential to support community building through increased philanthropy.

The Curriculum Guide takes users through four stages:  Engagement, Affiliation/Strategy, Outreach/Development, and Endowment Building.

NOTE:  This event is primarily of interest to community foundations and other funders interested in helping their communities build endowment.

Registration Fee:

No Charge to members of Grantmakers Forum of New York, Philanthropy New York or Western New York Grantmakers.
