Jason Blinkoff - Executive Vice President, A&R Bulk-Pak
A&R Bulk-Pak is a 30-year old contract packaging company specializing in the packaging and distribution of plastic pellets for overseas export. In 2015, facing a need to better serve its expanding customer base and handle the coming polyethylene production surge from the Gulf Coast, A&R Bulk-Pak made the decision to expand its packaging operations to the Southeast and chose Berkeley County for that expansion. As part of its first construction phase, the company opened a $10 million state-of-the-art packaging and distribution facility in May 2017, employing 15 people. When all three construction phases are complete, the facility will feature 240,000 square feet of warehouse space with on-site rail storage for 125 railcars, employing 25 people. In their first year of operations in South Carolina, A&R Bulk-Pak shipped out over 1,250 export containers through the Port of Charleston.
Jason Blinkoff, A&R Bulk-Pak’s Executive Vice President, will discuss the reasons for his decision to expand operations to South Carolina, the process of meeting with South Carolina elected officials and municipality leaders (including then Governor Nikki Haley and State Ports Authority President Jim Newsome), and lessons he learned along the way.
