Keynote Speaker - Boys and Girls Homes Director Gary Faircloth
Gary Faircloth began calling B&GH “home” as a 15-year-old-boy after experiencing domestic turmoil. Now, he is humbled and honored to serve as President and CEO of the organization that made such a difference in his life.
Gary graduated high school in 1966 while living on campus – one of 13 boys who made it the largest Boys Home graduating class ever. With a desire to give back, he pursued higher education by attending community college, and eventually graduating from East Carolina University in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in social welfare and concentration in juvenile correctional services. Gary later received certification from the National Planned Giving Institute and completed studies with the Southeastern Trust School of Campbell University. He also attended the Institute for Healing Racism from which he became a certified trainer.
Returning to B&GH in 1972, Gary served in a number of key roles until 1988: Director of Social Services, Educational Coordinator, Associate Campus Director, Civic Club Coordinator, Director of Planned Giving and Director of Development. In 1989 he accepted a position as vice president for Starr Commonwealth Schools in Albion, Michigan where he worked until 2002. Gary was welcomed “home” in 2008 when he accepted his current position as President/CEO.
