October 9, 2018 Professional Development Meeting

The Future of Technology in Supply Chain Planning

APICS Tampa Bay would like to invite our members and their colleagues to attend our Professional Development Meeting from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 9.

Our guest speaker is Mr. Rick Hollingsworth. He will be speaking on the topic of The Future of Technology in Supply Chain Planning.

While ERP systems have been around since the 90‘s, as the next evolution of basic MRP in the 70’s and MRP II in the 80’s, the next iteration of planning is starting to hit the market.  Larger companies are defining what their technological solutions will look like in the next decade. Basically, software providers are taking the same concepts and building cloud based solutions using demand sensing concepts.  They are allowing algorithms of large volumes of data to provide artificial intelligence to define demand.  This evolution from prescriptive to predictive and cognitive planning will be accomplished through decision support and automation tools.  This presentation will discuss the foundation of knowledge required, what is needed today to prepare for the next wave and how future solutions will be managed.

Rick Hollingsworth CSCP CPIM is a Past President of the Florida West Coast Chapter of APICS (2005 – 2007).  He is a Supply Chain Solutions expert with 25 years of experience in Supply Chain Management and Planning.  Currently, He works for Coca-Cola Beverages Florida as an IT Business Liaison.  This role merges supply chain process with technological capabilities.  He uses his expertise in SAP technology, process standardization and organic development of talent to maximize supply chain planning performance.  Additionally, Rick has industrial experience in food & drug, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, textiles, chemical, telecommunications, electronics, and defense for both process and discrete manufacturing.  He has spoken at national conferences on implementation techniques for production planning and has presented, globally, to Coca-Cola bottlers.  He has been in the Tampa Bay area since 1992 and has been affiliated with the local chapter since 1996.
