Top Management Night: EZ Kaizen

APICS Tampa Bay would like to invite our members and their colleagues to attend our Professional Development Meeting from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 12th. 

Our guest speaker is Mr. Bob Kinney, Managing Principal of Acelerate Results Group. He will be speaking on the topic of EZ Kaizen: Valuing Creativity Over Capital. 

Bob was always intrigued by the amazing results Japanese companies had with suggestion systems. Thousands of suggestions implemented per year! But how did they do it?  During a five-year expat assignment in Asia, Bob learned first-hand the secret to their approach. Bob then worked with a Dr. Deming disciple to further improve the program. Bob has led implementations in Asian, Latin and Western cultures and has personally trained over 2,500 individuals. His work has been with large and small organizations in a wide variety of industries.

Bob calls the program EZ Kaizen. It is a frugal approach that values creativity over capital. The fact is, employees know how to improve their work and have good ideas on how to reduce waste and make improvements. We want to encourage employees to develop and implement their own ideas. EZ Kaizen provides a “vehicle” for capturing these improvements so we can thank employees, share their ideas and create momentum for even more suggestions to be implemented. This is action-oriented! A focus on daily improvements; many small or incremental. This develops a culture shift … fully engaging and maximizing the day-to-day efforts and creativity of every employee!

Bob has led startups, turnarounds, acquisition integrations and transformations in safety, quality, productivity and culture. A hands-on approach with a focus on tools that guarantee engagement and accountability at all levels are the hallmarks of Bob’s work. He is a Certified Manager (CM), has a Lean Management Certificate and is a Six Sigma Quality Coach. He has authored numerous handbook’s and best practices, including EZ Kaizen™, JIDOKA Quality and Kaizen Process Improvement Handbook.

Bob is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and earned his MBA (Kellogg/Wharton) overseas through a joint academic program of Northwestern University, University of Pennsylvania, and Chulalongkorn University.
