Session II: French Language and Culture

This course is designed to give inexperienced and experienced teachers the tools necessary to develop and conduct an Advanced Placement French Language and Culture course in a public or private school setting. The workshop will provide a better understanding of the scope and sequence of this course as designed by the College Board committee. We will analyze proper textbook and supplementary materials, evaluate course and AP examination requirements, and share curriculum modules that enrich the AP French program. The workshop will combine PowerPoint presentations with group discussions. Participants will do a small research project that they will share with the group. The consultant will share with all participants relevant material from the 2017 AP grading.

Instructor: Madame Geneviève Delfosse has been teaching French at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Northern Virginia for 27 years. She has served as a member and co-chair of the College Board AP French Language and Culture development committee and participates every year in the AP French reading as a table leader. She has presented numerous workshops at national conferences and many colleges. Additionally, Madame Delfosse has chaired the National French Contest (Grand Concours) for many years. She was selected as a National Board Certified Teacher in 2002 and 2012 and also received the Order des PALMES ACADEMIQUES in 2001.
