Supporting the Social Emotional Needs of Children in SI Intervention

Presented by:
Susanne Smith Roley, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA

Monday November 3, 2014
7:00pm - 8:00pm EST

To master the art of sensory integration intervention the therapist must not only engage a child in purposeful therapeutic activities, but also remain ever cognizant of the child’s social-emotional state and needs. This LiveTalk will address how to recognize and meet those needs, as well as how to orchestrate SI intervention sessions that develop a therapeutic alliance with the child and create a ‘Just Right’ challenge.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this course the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify two components of sensory integration intervention that support children’s social emotional needs.
  2. Identify three strategies for supporting a child’s social emotional needs.
  3. Identify specific strategies for creating a "Just Right" challenge.
