Evening Lectures are onsite events that take place once a month at The Spiral Foundation / OTA The Koomar Center in Newton, Massachusetts. They are one and half hour presentations geared towards parents, education professionals, and therapists. Evening Lectures are not recorded.

Deficits in executive function skills can make schoolwork harrowingly difficult for children of all ages. In this Evening Lecture participants will learn ways to facilitate educational success for struggling students. Using a case study approach, several common learning profiles of students from 4th grade to high school will be used to illustrate specific tools and strategies to support Executive Function skill development.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the difference between IQ and Executive Functions and how both relate to school success.
  2. Describe specific Executive Function skills, and informally identify strengths or deficits within these skill areas.
  3. Identify strategies to help students manage a variety of school demands, and explain why a specific tool addresses a specific Executive Function need.
