Promoting Visual and Ocular Motor Skills
This evening lecture is designed for teachers, parents, and occupational therapists. In our current educational system, it is estimated that at least 75% of classroom learning occurs through visual pathways, so if an individual is experiencing any visual difficulties, learning will most likely be impacted. Vision skills can also impact acquisition of various motor skills. This lecture will provide education on ocular motor development, how the vestibular system impacts these skills and activities that can be implemented in a variety of setting to further develop these skills.
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
1. Understand the development of the visual and ocular motor skills and how they impact function.
2. Understand the vestibular system and how it relates to foundations necessary for the development of ocular motor abilities.
3. Learn visual and ocular motor activities to incorporate in any environment to promote improvement in these areas.
