Dear Teaching and Ruling Elders of Milwaukee,
Get ready for the Best Presbytery Meeting Ever.
On February 27, we will convene at Carroll University for a Lively, Engaging, Interactive, Educational, Participatory exploration of the topic:“Church As Improv.”
If you think “improv” is something that happens in comedy clubs, you are right … but only partly.
Laughter is just one element. Improv – like church – involves listening, paying attention, thinking on your feet, and responding in the moment.
Bob Orvis (from Comedy Sportz in Milwaukee) will lead our morning workshop, sharing techniques he uses to help corporate board members and organizations work effectively. Ashley Goff (Church of the Pilgrims in Washington, DC) will lead worship after lunch.
Also, please bring several carloads of church leaders – Ruling Elders, Deacons, Sunday School teachers, and anyone else who will return home energized by the experience. The tentative schedule looks like this:
8:30 Registration
9:00 Bob Orvis presentation
11:00 Presbytery business
12:00 Lunch
1:00-2:30 Worship
Remember: the Presbytery Meeting isn’t just that day. It begins as soon as the meeting papers go out – and continues as long as we read, rejoice, discuss and respond to the amazing work God is doing among us.
