Keeping Children Safe: Child Abuse and Neglect Curriculum

Review Course-3 Hours

Fee: $20.00

Abused or neglected children can be found in any neighborhood, classroom, and child care program. Knowing the signs and behaviors associated with child maltreatment is important for professionals involved with children on a regular basis. Acting on that suspicion and making a report of child abuse may be the one thing that makes a critical difference in a child's life

Child care professionals share with parents the responsibility of keeping children safe, protected, and secure in an environment that nurtures healthy growth and development. Unlike parents, caregivers are recognized by the state as mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect. The Keeping Children Safe curriculum was developed to strengthen the caregiver's role in identifying, preventing, and where indicated, reporting child abuse and neglect.

This curriculum has been designed to meet the training requirement for child abuse and neglect recognition and prevention as outlined in the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Licensing Rules with the addition of the language of the Strengthening Families Initiative.
