Restoration from the Inside Out, Effecting Internal Change for the Victim of Sex Abuse

   Presenter: Rebecca Born, MSW, LISW-S

Fee: $45.00

6.0 CEUs

This workshop provides information about the seldom seen reality of how sex abuse impacts the victim.  Included is a “taking down myths” section and a simulation of what it looks like when the victim decides to get help.  Participants also experiencethe Restoration Paradigm, a framework for reconnecting to authentic identity.

The Restoration Ranges, “Refugee, Overcoming, Conquering, and Identity” are defined, obstacles and techniques shared, and the core skills of Restoration are highlighted.  Using case histories and samples of completed worksheets, the participant gains skills for both individual and group work.

This workshop will conclude with a focus on compassion fatigue issues for the mental health provider who works with trauma and interactive sessions with tangible exercises including developing a self-care plan.

Presenter: Rebecca Born, MSW,  L.I.S.W.-S. Seeing the lack of resources for assisting victims of sex abuse, Rebecca envisioned and birthed a center to meet the long-term needs evidenced in the impact of the trauma. At Connections: A Safe Place, victims of sex abuse invited her into their journey and from them she learned of the needs for restoration. She has co-authored and designed the Restoration Paradigm in Beyond Recovery to Restoration – working with the trauma of sex abuse.   Accompanying workbooks provide resources for the victim to do the work of restoration.

Rebecca is passionate in her efforts to change the way society looks at and handles sex abuse. Her Zero Tolerance work is a primary prevention approach and focuses on shifting cultural mindsets. She is innovative and dynamic in her approach to training other individuals and agencies in the Restoration Paradigm. Rebecca is an accomplished and passionate speaker. She loves to spend time outdoors, hiking and gardening. Rebecca lives in Cincinnati, OH.
