Objectives:  

 • Name five critical components of the psychosocial assessment.
 • Identify two types of depressive disorders.
 • Recall three key questions to use when making a diagnosis.
 • Describe two types of anxiety disorders

Seminar Highlights:

Assessment skills, which include understanding the patient’s symptoms and life changes, are highly relevant to social work practice. Clinicians will learn how to make an accurate diagnosis based on the patient’s symptoms and psychiatric history. This seminar will focus on diagnostic categories such as depressive disorders and anxiety disorders. DVD material will be presented to highlight identifiable symptoms and interviewing skills.

Speaker: Phil Feldman, PhD, LCSW 

Dr. Feldman is the Clinical Director at Community Psychiatric Institute. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University, Graduate School of Social Work. Dr. Feldman has presented more than 200 clinical seminars at hospitals and agencies on personality disorders, emotional problems, and psychotherapy techniques. In addition to his work as a psychotherapist for 25 years, he is the author of three treatment manuals, Shame Affect, Dual Diagnosis Manual, and The Psychotherapy Manual. 

Attendees must attend the entire seminar and complete the evaluation form to receive Certificate of Attendance. The certificate will be given at the end of the seminar. This seminar is 2 CEU credits.
