Ethics in Practice — Safety Issues

This FREE program will start immediately and include dinner.

Ethics in Practice is a series developed by the Ethics Council of the New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. This program seeks to enhance understanding of ethical issues in hospice caregiving and provide attendees with an eight-step ethical decision-making process through which interdisciplinary teams can resolve ethical issues.

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • Differentiate between an ethical dilemma and a problem to be solved operationally
  • List the four ethical principles used in the NJHPCO Ethical Decision-Making Process
  • List the three questions that qualify a conflict as an ethical dilemma
  • List the eight steps in the NJHPCO Ethical Decision-Making Process.

* Please note: the previous three sessions 'Introduction To Ethical Principles
And The Ethical Decision-Making Process' held on September 15, 2015,  'Ethics & Cultural Issues' held on October 13, 2015 and 'Ethics in Family Issues'
 held on November 17, 2015 are required to take this session.

New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Provider Number P247-10/12-15. Accredited status does not imply endorsement by NJSNA, New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, or ANCC of any commercial products or services. This course, Ethics in Practice – Introduction to Ethical Principles and the Ethical Decision-Making Process, Approval #142707-624, provided by the New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, is approved for continuing education by the New Jersey Social Work Continuing Education Approval Collaborative. CE Approval Program Approval Period: September 1, 2014 – August 31, 2016. Social workers will receive 1.25 non-clinical and ethics continuing education hours for participating in the course.
