Eating Disorders:
The Silent Epidemic

Free presentation will start immediately and include dinner.

Seminar Outline: We live in a culture obsessed with thinness and dieting. This can make it difficult to recognize when a person’s thinking or behavior has become dangerous. Eating disorders are very serious and affect both physical and mental health. Left untreated, they can be fatal.

Learning to recognize the signs and symptoms of an eating disorder is the first step to helping someone in need and early detection is key.

This presentation will cover the following topics:

  • The Roots Of Eating Disorders
  • Signs & Symptoms
  • Important Warning Signs
  • Treatment Philosophy
  • How To Help A Friend Or Family Member

Speaker:   Nancy B. Graham, LCSW the Professional Relations Representative for The Renfrew Center of Northern New Jersey located in Ridgewood, New Jersey. She has over 30 years experience as a mental health professional and clinician both in New York City and New Jersey. Since joining The Renfrew Center in 2001 she has done numerous presentations to educators, parents, students, health care professionals and community organizations about eating disorders and body image issues.
