Sheriff Tom Dart to Speak at NAMI Summit County Luncheon:
Mental Health and the Criminal Justice System
On May 6, 2016, The National Alliance on Mental Illness Summit County “NAMI Summit County,” will celebrate its 30th year of service to the Summit County community by holding a luncheon at The Hilton Akron/Fairlawn. In honor of this significant event, NAMI Summit County will host keynote speaker, Sheriff Tom Dart, Sheriff of Cook County (Chicago). Sheriff Tom Dart was featured as one of the Top 100 Influential People by Time Magazine in 2009, and has been hailed by many mental health advocacy organizations for his push to end what has become a de facto criminalization of mental illness.
