Join the North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce and Attorney John Gannon of Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P. C. for an employment law course that will help employers and those with human resource responsibilities identify and understand the danger zones that can create liability for themselves and their companies.
This seminar will address the fundamentals of employment law in an effort to help attendees understand legal implications of employee-related decisions in the workplace and failure to take action when legally required to do so. The program will also provide the attendees with specific tools that they can use when making difficult decisions about their employees, and help them develop skills that will both improve performance and avoid the missteps that can lead to employment litigation. In addition to covering topics related to employment discipline and documentation, the program will point out common errors that expose employers to claims under Connecticut’s employment laws.

About the Speaker
John S. Gannon is an attorney with Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., and practices in the firm’s Springfield, Massachusetts, office. John has defended employers against claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wrongful termination, as well as actions arising under the Family Medical Leave Act and wage & hour law. John also has experience with lawsuits seeking to enforce restrictive covenants and protect trade secrets.
John frequently assists employers in litigation avoidance strategies. He has reviewed numerous employee handbooks and related polices for compliance, as well as employment and non-compete agreements. John has also conducted comprehensive wage & hour and employment practices audits. He regularly counsel employers on compliance with state and federal laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
John is also is a frequent speaker on employment-related legal topics for a wide variety of associations and organizations, including appearances on Western Mass News and the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly podcast sessions.
