New Hampshire Food Bank 2016 Event

About the New Hampshire Food Bank: The New Hampshire Food Bank serves as the only food bank in the state, working to provide nutritious food and resources to the hundreds of thousands of New Hampshire residents that are food insecure. The Food Bank supplies millions of pounds of food annually to more than 400 partner agencies, including food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children’s programs, senior centers and more. In turn, these agencies provide hunger relief to those suffering from food insecurity throughout the state.

Since its inception, FIT has been committed to providing only the most innovative, comprehensive, and effective interventions specifically designed to help homeless individuals and families reach beyond the cycle of homelessness to lead healthy and successful lives. Our belief is that having a home is a basic human right and is fundamental to becoming an engaged and contributing member of our community. - See more at: http://www.fitnh.org/#sthash.oCiAaDIq.dpuf

About the volunteer opportunity: The Food Bank needs volunteers to help with their Fresh Rescue Program.  They need help unloading, unpacking and sorting through donated items. The task will require some bending, lifting, and standing for the duration of the activity.  Employees should plan on arriving around 8:15 a.m. so that we are ready to begin working at 8:30 a.m..

Dress:  Please plan on wearing your Eversource Volunteer t-shirt, along with comfortable pants/jeans and closed, sturdy shoes such as sneakers or boots.  Please dress in layers as it may be cooler in the warehouse where we'll be working.

Parking:  The NH Food Bank is located at 700 East Industrial Park Drive in Manchester.  There is a large parking lot with plenty of parking on site.

Volunteer Guidelines and Lottery Selection

Participation in volunteer opportunities is contingent upon securing supervisor approval. Because the first obligation of each Eversource employee is to our jobs, supervisors can refuse permission.

Volunteers will be chosen using a random lottery selection. Priority will be given to employees who have not yet volunteered in the calendar year.

To be included in the lottery, employees will need to have their supervisor’s approval, be able to stay for the duration of the volunteer event, and be able to provide their own transportation.

Volunteers are required to wear their Eversource volunteer t-shirt which will be provided.

Photographs are generally taken at all volunteer events. If an employee would like to request that his/her picture not be taken, he/she should contact the volunteer coordinator.

If an event is scheduled for a half-day, the employee is responsible for scheduling their work hours with their supervisor.

If a volunteer is unable to attend an event at the last minute, the volunteer is responsible for contacting the volunteer coordinators and his/her supervisor.

The company will not reimburse volunteers for parking fees, vehicle mileage, or parking tickets incurred during a volunteer event.
