Families in Transition 2016 Event

About Families in Transition (FIT):  Since its inception in 1991, FIT has been committed to providing only the most innovative, comprehensive, and effective interventions specifically designed to help homeless individuals and families reach beyond the cycle of homelessness to lead healthy and successful lives. Their belief is that having a home is a basic human right and is fundamental to becoming an engaged and contributing member of our community.

About the volunteer opportunity: Volunteers are needed to help refresh and refurbish the organization's Manchester location, improving the space for homeless and low income families who use the location for needed services.

Dress:  Please plan on wearing your Eversource Volunteer t-shirt, along with comfortable pants/jeans and closed, sturdy shoes such as sneakers or boots.

Parking:  There is a small lot behind the building that can be accessed via a small alleyway on the side of the building.  However, there may not be spaces enough for everyone in the lot.  In the case the lot is full, there is plenty of on street, metered parking.  Since Energy Park is not far away, we can always carpool from that lot as well.

Miscellaneous: Lunch will be provided.

Volunteer Guidelines and Lottery Selection

Participation in volunteer opportunities is contingent upon securing supervisor approval. Because the first obligation of each Eversource employee is to our jobs, supervisors can refuse permission.

Volunteers will be chosen using a random lottery selection. Priority will be given to employees who have not yet volunteered in the calendar year.

To be included in the lottery, employees will need to have their supervisor’s approval, be able to stay for the duration of the volunteer event, and be able to provide their own transportation.

Volunteers are required to wear their Eversource volunteer t-shirt which will be provided.

Photographs are generally taken at all volunteer events. If an employee would like to request that his/her picture not be taken, he/she should contact the volunteer coordinator.

If an event is scheduled for a half-day, the employee is responsible for scheduling their work hours with their supervisor.

If a volunteer is unable to attend an event at the last minute, the volunteer is responsible for contacting the volunteer coordinators and his/her supervisor.

The company will not reimburse volunteers for parking fees, vehicle mileage, or parking tickets incurred during a volunteer event.
