What is it like to have dyslexia?
Experience Dyslexia is a hands-on simulation activity that lets participants experience some of the challenges and frustrations faced by people with this language-based learning difference. It provides a lively, thought provoking activity for teachers, parents, or anyone interested in better understanding the lives of individuals with dyslexia.
The simulation consists of six learning stations that present different language related learning tasks commonly encountered in the classroom or workplace. In small groups at each learning station, participants will experience a 10-minute, guided, interactive session which addresses reading, listening, writing, directionality and spelling. These will be followed by a group discussion focusing on experiences shared and lessons learned.
Consider bringing a guest - your spouse, a colleague or child's teacher. In addition to this highly acclaimed simulation activity, the YES! Ambassadors, high school students with dyslexia, will be on hand from 11:00-1:00 pm, to demonstrate the assistive technology that helps them be successful in school.
Register Now! NOTE: We can only accommodate 48 participants per session.
