Tallulah Gorge Autumn Colors Hike

Join us for another one of our Wonderful Outings in the Wilderness (WOW!) as we celebrate Mother Nature in all her splendor, with her beautiful colors of Autumn, in the great American outdoors.

Tallulah Gorge is one of the most spectacular canyons in the Southeast. We will hike along the rim to all 10 of the overlooks, which includes breathtaking waterfall views.

We will also access the floor of the gorge by taking the 522 metal stairs (the strenuous part of the hike).  There are plenty of landings, and many with benches, on which you can rest.

We will walk the suspension bridge that crosses the Tallulah River.   We expect to be able to watch expert kayakers as they enjoy the bi-annual "whitewater releases."

Upon arrival at the park, we will go to the Visitor's Center, and view the park's film about the gorge.  It includes heart-racing footage of kayakers and news clips from Wallenda's famous tightrope walk across the gorge.

Bring plenty of water, a light healthy lunch, a smile and a friendly disposition, and you are guarantee to have a wonderful outing in the wilderness... WOW! As always, wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots (please, no new shoes or boots...you will be sorry...break them in first!), and of course comfortable layered, clothing.

Don't forget the Leave No Trace principles to which we adhere... what you carry in, you carry out, with the exception of taking your memories of the adventure, your new friendships, and of course, any photos you may take.

Remember... we car pool and each rider is asked to donate $7 - $10 toward gas and parking. It is about an hour and a half drive up north to the gorge. You can get a FREE Georgia State PArks pass from your local library.  You check it out as you would a book.  They go fast,e specpially thi time of year, so make sure you reserve it.

Feel free to contact me by email at CH@CarolynHartfield.com or telephone at 678.231.4973 should you have any questions.

There is no fee to participate on our hikes, however, we do accept donations to help us offset expenses and enable us to continue to offer the hikes to anyone who has a desire to join us....we love what we do!  We have loaner backpacks.. If you enjoy yourself, please consider making a tip/donation.  Thanks!
