Unicoi State Park to Helen, GA - August Hike

Join us on one of our Wonderful Outings in the Wilderness (WOW!) as we celebrate National American Adventurers month in the great American outdoors.Unicoi Trail

This winding and scenic trail winds through stands of rhododendrons and mountain laurels and crosses the Lower Smith Creek. It actually crosses several small streams and then intersects with the Unicoi Mountain Biking Trail before reaching the Unicoi Hill City Park in Helen where we will stop and have lunch and enjoy the Alpine Village of Helen, one of the most popular areas in North Georgia, before heading back.

Descriptoin: 3 miles, one-way. Compacted Soil Surface.  Rated easy to moderate.

The drive is approximately 1.5 hours from Atlanta.

As always, wear comfortable (not new) shoes and layered clothing. We will carpool, so please be prepared to donate $5 - $7 to the driver for gas and parking.  There is a $5 fee for parking unless you go to your local public library and check-out a State Park Parking Pass for free parking. Sometimes they go pretty fast, so you may want to check up front and reserve it for pick-up.

Feel free to contact me by return email or telephone at 678.231.4973 should you have any questions.

There is no fee to participate on our hikes, however, we do accept donations to help us offset expenses and enable us to continue to offer the hikes to anyone who has a desire to join us....we love what we do! Right now al expenses are out-of-pocket.  We prepare the necessary paperwork, scout every trail, provide water and snacks as needed, and have loaner backpacks and walking sticks. If you enjoy yourself and would like to see it continue, please consider making a donation.  Thanks!
