Sweetwater Creek Trail & Special Black History Tour Saturday, February 4, 2012

4.0 Miles Trail Rated Easy - Moderate

Sweetwater Creek State Park is a peaceful tract of wilderness only minutes from downtown Atlanta. A wooded trail follows the stream to the ruins of the authenic New Manchester Manufacturing Company built by the enslaved.  The company was a textile mill burned during the Civil War.

We will have a special guided tour into the ruins for an upclose and personal look at history during this Black History month hike.

Meet us at the IHOP parkng lot so we can carpool to the park.  Come prepared to drive or be a passenger and have money to help pay for gas and parking.  Note that FREE State Park parking passes can be checked out at your local library.

Also, you are encouraged to make donations to keep the hikes free with Hartfield's Hikers.  We will be partnering with Keeping It Wild on this historic hike.
