Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art - Spencer Art Reference Library
4525 Oak Street, Kansas City, MO 64111
Exploring Library Resources for Working Artists is presented by the Spencer Art Reference Library of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The presentation features a group discussion centered on library resources relevant to artists working in a variety of fields and a behind-the-scenes tour of the library’s facilities. The Spencer Art Reference Library offers research space with reliable resources about managing and marketing an artistic career as well as resources for creative inspiration.
Participants in this program will also learn about a new library initiative to document the careers of working artists working in this region through the Artist Files project. We’ll discuss what types of materials the library is collecting in these files and how artists can contribute to this exciting documentation project. The discussion is led by library staff members, including an Artist INC alumnus. Join the discussion, take a tour of the library’s facilities, both public and behind-the-scenes, and explore a display of materials of interest to the working artist. Enjoy happy hour in the Bloch Lobby before or afterward the session and the Third Thursday events.
Located in the Bloch Building of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Spencer Art Reference Library is free and open to the public Wednesday through Sunday and by appointment on Tuesdays.
