TCRNŽ Review

Successfully completing the Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) exam is a challenge. Currently, more than 2,100 nurses hold TCRN certification. 

The TCRN exam is focused on the continuum of trauma care and is not limited to the care provided in the emergency department. Trauma nursing practice is defined as providing direct care, supervision, education, and advocacy for trauma patients and their families.

This two-day course is a review of emergency nursing designed to assist the participant to be successful in obtaining TCRN certification.

Course Fees

ENA Members: $200 (ENA Member number required for discounted rate.)

Non-Members: $250

Course fees include the two day course, course materials (to be distributed on site), and breakfast, refreshments and lunch daily.

About the Speaker

Michael Gooch, DNP, RN, ACNP-BC, FNP-BC, ENP-C, ENP-BC, CFRN, CTRN, CEN, TCRN, NREMT-P

Dr. Gooch brings over 20 years of nursing and EMS experience. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings that range from emergency nursing and primary care to a Level I Trauma Center and include ground and air medical transport. Michael received his MSN from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where he focused on emergency and trauma care. He graduated from Loyola University Chicago with his DNP. His scholarly project focused on the use of education and evidence- based interventions to change practice, particularly rapid sequence intubation. He is a nationally recognized speaker regarding varied emergency and transport topics. Michael holds a faculty appointment within the emergency and adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner programs at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing as well as with the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia in Madison, TN. He has completed over 1,400 patient transports during his tenure as a flight nurse for Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s LifeFlight and is an emergency nurse practitioner with TeamHealth at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN.

TCRN vs. TNS

The TNS is a state-based specialty course which includes classroom and clinical instruction and is followed by a written exam. The TCRN is a broad-based national exam that spans the continuum of trauma care and covers content deemed important to the practice of trauma nursing across the United States.

This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Emergency Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

You may cancel your registration without cause for a refund based on the following:

Cancellations by February 9, 2018, amount refunded: $175 (ENA Members), $225 (Non-Members)

Cancellations by February 23, 2018, amount refunded: $100 (ENA Members), $125 (Non-Members)

Cancellations by March 2, 2018, amount refunded: $50 (ENA Members), $75 (Non-Members)

Cancellations after March 2, 2018, will not be eligible for a refund.

There is a mandatory non-refundable $25 administrative fee (included in the above refund schedule).

Transfer of Registration

In the event that you are unable to attend the course, your registration is transferable at no additional charge. You may only transfer your registration within your same registration type (ENA Member to ENA Member or Non-Member to Non-Member). Contact Nicholas Nelson at president@illiniosena.org if you wish to transfer your registration to another person no later than Friday, March 9, 2018.
