LGBTQ Awareness

“Creating a Safe Home through Kindness and Compassion”

Welcome.

Join us for an informative and interactive training opportunity to learn tips and best practices for service providers working with LGBTQ populations.

Resident Service Coordinator’s will learn about resources for residents and how to navigate the cultural sensitives when discussing LGBTQ identities. This workshop will help create a community that affirms and supports its LGBTQ residents and their cultures, as well as seeks to ensure that they are treated with equality, respect and dignity.

Moreover, we will discuss how affordable housing for LGBT Seniors is critical in San Diego. A 2013 Pew Research poll found that only 50 percent of senior citizens consider homosexuality acceptable- creating a need for housing that is safe and supportive of the LGBTQ seniors. What is the San Diego community currently doing to address this issue?

Confirmed guest speaker William Kelly, LGBTQ Senior Advocate and visionary of the new LGBTQ-inclusvie North Park Senior Apartments, will lead a discussion on cultural sensitivity.

Don't miss out on this special opportunity!
