             Here's your chance to participate in IFDA TAKE A SEAT!

The International Furnishings and Design Association invites Industry Members to

TAKE A SEAT 

by designing a chair for the  2^nd annual design exhibition.

IFDA chapters in New York, Miami, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Scottsdale, and Washington, DC, will hold a national design event to display chairs made or decorated by industry professionals such as designers, artists, craftsmen, architects and students who have up-cycled existing chairs or materials into one-of-kind works of art. These chairs become art projects or sculptures in some cases while others can still be used as a furniture piece.  Your display space will be limited to the size of a standard side chair. 

                                                               After that, just be creative!

The NYC exhibit and auction gala was held in May, 2014 and the other five chapters will hold their events in October.  All events will be promoted nationally.  Chairs from each chapter will be on public display for one to two weeks in their market.   A Gala Auction will close each exhibit, and the chairs will be sold to support that Chapter’s selected charity.

In Philadelphia, we have selected Project Home, a Philadelphia non-profit organization empowering individuals to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through affordable housing, employment, health care, and education. 

                                                 

 IFDA Chapters have pledged 70% of the net proceeds to the selected charities.

                               Here in Philadelphia our Take A Seat will be a Shout Out event during  the

10th Annual DESIGNPHILADELPHIA2014, the 10 day city wide celebration of design.

Participating designers will receive recognition for themselves and their company in both print and online media, and pictures of all the chairs will also be featured online.   Every registered designer or team (limited to two people) will be asked to provide one head-shot or team photo along with a 100-word description of your company or team and a “before” shot of the chair you will use. One company logo may also be submitted.

 

 

This event registration, limited to the first 35 submissions, is open to all members of the furnishings and design industry such as designers, artists, architects, craftsmen and design students.

• IFDA Members $75 
• Non-Members $95
• Students $45 
• Fees reserves one space for your custom chair creation......
• To be displayed locally prior to the fundraiser Gala
• Invitation to the Kick-off party at the Robert Allen Showroom / Marketplace Design Center on Oct 1st
• And admission for one to the Gala Auction event on the evening of October 10th at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. 

Completed chairs must be ready to be delivered to the display location at least one week prior to the chapter’s kick-off date (10/1) for photography.  Exact delivery details will be emailed to the participants along with their confirmation that they are included in the event.

All chairs will be relinquished to IFDA for the exhibition and sale at the auction and net proceeds will be distributed as noted above.  IFDA retains the right to photograph all the submissions for use in all media venues
