Start off your day getting your creative juices flowing with Sarah Gott, local children’s art educator with her “Creative Warm-ups.” These warm-ups include building art journals, drawing prompts, and action art! Following this the morning workshop begins.
This week’s workshop is Shibori!Shibori is the ancient art of Japanese indigo dying utilizing folding, twisting and binding fabric to create intricate designs (similar to tie-dying). We will be using the natural Indigo dye for this process. Each child will be provided by a t-shirt and a bag to dye, and are welcome to bring from home up to two additional items (such as a t-shirt/scarf/socks) to be dyed.
To get inspiration for the greats, Sarah will lead a guided tour of the Akron Art Museum’s collection. Campers are encouraged to ask questions and interacting with art. (i.e. campers will take their art journals with them and will draw the art that inspires them.)
