Anyone with an established Centering Prayer practice is invited to Contemplative Journey II to explore the meaning and purpose of life & the path toward the fullness of life. The series includes the rich wisdom teachings of Fr. Thomas Keating and Sister Maria Tasto. The Forgiveness and Welcoming Prayers are introduced as transformative methods of prayer.
The class experience begins and is filled with Fr. Thomas Keating’s wisdom on the Christian Contemplative Journey and the human condition. We will journey together with Sr. Maria Tasto as she guides us along the path of becoming who God created us to be. Using the lens of Scripture and inspired by the works of Father Keating, she shares what she has gleaned from years of walking with others on her spiritual journey and from her own remarkable path. With insight and compassion, Sister Maria helps us to recognize our false selves, to transform our attitude and responses, to deepen our relationship with God and to come into the fullness of life. This series finishes with a selection from Fr. Thomas’ “Spiritual Journey” illustrating the Christian journey to Love.
The Forgiveness and Welcoming Prayers. are introduced. The Forgiveness Prayer addresses Jesus’ call for us to forgive those who sin against us “up to seventy times seven.” The Welcoming Prayer is a method of consenting to God’s presence and action in our physical and emotional reactions to events and situations in daily life.
