Centering Prayer as the 11th Step for Those in 12 Step Programs

All active members in 12 Step programs are invited to come to the shores of Camp Beckwith for an afternoon workshop led by Fr. Bill Sheehan, OMI.

Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out. (The Eleventh Step)

Too often, even in recovery, we are trapped in our own efforts, blinded in a dark night or lack the practical skills to help us navigate our emotions and find a connectedness to our Higher Power.

Fr.  Bill's  teaching will review and build on the basic guidelines for Centering Prayer as an 11^th Step practice and The Welcoming Prayer practice with focus on Bill W’s writing, “Emotional Sobriety, The Next Frontier”.  

Fr. Bill is an experienced and beloved retreat director.  He has been involved with Contemplative Outreach since 1983 and continues to serve the Centering Prayer communities. He brings humor and wisdom to 12 Step communities. Fr. Bill is a member of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate and lives in Lowell, Massachusetts.

About the 11th Step Outreach of Centering Prayer: In 2001, the 12-Step Outreach sector of Contemplative Outreach was established to offer Centering Prayer to people in all 12-Step fellowships as an 11th Step prayer/meditation practice.  We help individuals and groups establish contemplative prayer practices through workshops, retreats, and formation programs.
