Summary & Learning Objectives
Albert Yu, CEO Asia for BMO Financial Group, will provide insight from within China about the current state of the economy, with a particular focus on US business currently operating, or considering operating in China. In addition to the below questions, topics may be submitted in advance:

  • What current and future economic policies may be important on the horizon?  
  • How do these policies impact USA based companies doing business in China?
  • How has COVID effected ‘business as usual’ for US businesses in China?

Biography
Aaron Nelson joined BMO’s Commercial Banking team in 2016 as a Vice President focusing on middle-market companies in Northeast Wisconsin. Prior to joining BMO, Aaron worked with investment banks in Chicago and Denver, negotiating acquisitions, dispositions, and growth capital for various industries, such as healthcare, manufacturing, distribution and real estate. 

Aaron and his wife returned to Wisconsin to be near family and raise their two children. They enjoy cross-county skiing, golfing, and cycling.

Biography
Albert Yu is CEO Asia for BMO Financial Group. Since 2009, Mr. Yu has been responsible for all businesses entities and interests of BMO Financial Group throughout the Asian Pacific countries. With offices across nine cities in Asia and Beijing as the Asian headquarters, BMO in Asia is active in investment and corporate banking, fixed income and currency, securitized and structured products, trade finance and FI banking, private banking and family trusts and ETF and asset management.

Albert is also a Director of the Board and President of Bank of Montreal (China) Co. Ltd., a wholly owned locally incorporated banking subsidiary in mainland China – the only Canadian bank (and one of only five North American banks) with that status in China. He also serves as Director of the Board of COFCO Trust in Beijing, as well as BMO Global Asset Management (Asia) Ltd. in Hong Kong. 

Albert is a member of the Faculty Advisory Board of Sauder Business School, University of British Columbia, where he also earned a Master of Science degree in Business Administration. He also earned an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from University of Windsor, Ontario.
