Robert Fleming

Resident Managing Director | Green Bay & Milwaukee | Aon 

Biography

Rob serves as Resident Managing Director for Aon Wisconsin, with overall responsibility for Aon’s operations within the state. In addition to leading the Wisconsin operations, Rob continues to serve as an Account Executive, supporting clients in strategic risk management planning and execution. Rob also works closely with other Aon Account Executives to ensure executive level support from all of Aon’s industry, product, and service groups.

Rob had led the Wisconsin operations since 2014 and also maintains over 25 years of risk management consulting experience. He serves clients in all segments (middle market to multinational corporations) with an emphasis on the manufacturing and professional service sectors as well as family owned businesses. 

Education
Rob earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Risk Management & Insurance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Rob also earned a Masters of Business Administration degree with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Rob maintains the Associate in Risk Management Designation and is a licensed Property & Casualty broker.

Christopher Iovino 
Managing Director, Global Risk Consulting, Casualty Risk Consulting | Aon

Biography
Based in New York, Chris’ current responsibilities include the management of the US casualty risk control, claims and marine claims practice, comprised of over 140 professionals. Some of his team’s specialties include ergonomics, safety culture, product risk, claims consulting, data and analytics, and solutions to reduce casualty total cost of risk. The team’s focus is on the identification of pre and post loss mitigation strategies for major corporations, with focus on Aon’s internal certification and thought leadership servicing model. Product development is a critical function of this role, as well as active involvement in large global projects for the benefit of the broader firm and our clients.

Chris brings a specific financial focus to the development of pre and post loss strategies, seeking to identify and implement solutions that represent both economic and cultural opportunities. Chris is a cofounder of Aon’s Safety Culture Improvement (SCI) process, a behavioral and systems based safety approach that identifies cultural and systematic barriers to successful risk management programs and develops strategies for reducing overall cost of risk. Chris’ specific industry engagements have included manufacturing, transportation, media, hospitality, healthcare, retail and the private equity field.

With Aon since 1996, Chris has held positions in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group specializing in casualty risk control and portfolio risk management solutions, a director of Global Risk Consulting focusing on project management for Global 1500 clients and led the US Business Development team before his return to the casualty risk control discipline.

Debbie Schaffel
Managing Director | Financial Services Group | Aon


Biography
Debbie is a Managing Director and the national manager of the Private and Nonprofit Practice within Aon’s Financial Services Group (“FSG”). In this role, Debbie is responsible for overseeing a staff of 50 and providing management focus and customer service for the management liability needs of Aon’s private and nonprofit clients. She is responsible for operational strategy, carrier and client relationships and personnel management for the team. 

She has been with Aon since 2003 and her areas of expertise include analyzing exposure and placing coverage for Directors and Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Crime/Fidelity Insurance, Kidnap & Ransom Insurance, Professional Liability Insurance and related products for private company and nonprofit clients. 

Debbie’s insurance career began with AIG in 1989 as an underwriter in their management liability department for private and nonprofit clients. In 1999, she joined Kemper Insurance Company’s new management liability department and transferred to Chicago to open the Central region management liability office. 

She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Statistics from Cornell University (1989) and a MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business (1994). She has an RPLU designation from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS). She is co-President and co-Reunion Chair of the Cornell Class of 1989 and is a past President of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society.

Jo Ellen Thelen
Central Region Middle Market Practice Leader | Aon

Biography
Jo Ellen leads the Central Region Team of Middle Market Brokers in the following offices: Chicago, Minneapolis, Omaha, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and St. Louis. Jo Ellen is an Account Executive for clients in a variety of industries. 

She has 25+ years of experience and has had Increasing roles and responsibilities in Commercial Underwriting for various insurance companies and a regional broker prior to joining Aon in 2004.

Jo Ellen works with clients and carriers in the space comprised of complex Casualty & Property, Agriculture, Aviation, Financial Institutions, Manufacturing, Wholesale Distribution, Hospitality, Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity.

Jo Ellen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska. She has her CIC designation and is a Member of St. Louis Women’s Forum. In addition, Jo Ellen is a former Board President of Food Outreach, and an Aon Representative with various Insurance carriers on National Advisory Panels. She was awarded Mentor of the Year for the Aon St. Louis Office in 2012, and is a member of Aon’s National Diversity and Inclusion Board.
