Summary
In a marketplace that has moved to immediacy and online deliverables, it has become more important than ever to deliver a genuine guest experience. Executing and separating oneself as a brand and experience that their guest sees as the only option.  Every morning, Bergstrom Automotive is driven to deliver outstanding guest service, quality cars and trucks and a difference in our communities. Executing this plan took a small Chevy store in 1982, to the largest dealer group in the State of Wisconsin putting Bergstrom Automotive in the Top 50 in the United States. 

Biography
Tim M. Bergstrom is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Bergstrom Automotive headquartered in Neenah, Wisconsin. The Company owns and operates 32 automotive locations representing all major brands sold in the U.S. Bergstrom is the only company in America that has been awarded franchises by all volume automotive manufacturers. The Company was recognized in 2015 and now 2016 as one of the “Top 5 Automotive Companies to Work For” in the country. Under Mr. Bergstrom’s leadership, the Company has taken a leadership role in driving culture and guest experience to the forefront of the automotive sector.

Bergstrom is a cum laude graduate from the Marquette University School of Business. He has completed the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA) Dealer Leadership Program. Prior to his current job responsibilities, he spent 15 years in management positions in service, parts, body shop, and sales operations. Tim and his wife Natalie have three children. They reside in Neenah, Wisconsin.

Bergstrom Automotive is one of the Top 50 largest automotive groups in the United States, with sales in excess of $1 billion and employs over 1,600 people throughout the State of Wisconsin.

Tax Reform: Where are we and how did we get here?

Summary
This presentation will discuss the current state of tax reform including a comparison to prior law, steps companies are taking to comply with the new law, and actions being taken to address issues and opportunities presented by the new law.

Biography

Mel Schwarz is a retired partner, serving as a consultant to Grant Thornton’s National Tax Office. He assists in the monitoring of tax legislative activity and serves as a technical resource to the firm on recent and pending legislation.

Mel has over 31 years of federal income tax experience, including six years on the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation. While serving on the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation, he was the primary staff attorney assigned to a wide range of tax proposals and issues, including the taxation of utility and telecommunications companies, accounting periods and methods, depreciation, and incentive credits. He was the primary author of pamphlets describing the income taxation of utility and telecommunications companies and examining the effects of proposed legislation on those taxpayers.

Mel has successfully advocated client concerns regarding legislative and regulatory developments before Congress, Treasury and IRS officials. He has extensive experience in a range of industries and represented companies in the energy, banking, retail, mining, and manufacturing sectors. Mel has given numerous presentations before accounting, bar and other groups, including the Tax Section of the American Bar Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Tax Executive Institute. He has appeared as a guest commentator with the Fox Business Network, and has been quoted in national publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and USA Today.

Mel received his Bachelors of Arts from Southern Methodist University, his Masters of Professional Accounting from the University of Texas and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan.

Biography
Jeff Jorge is principal and international growth services practice leader at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP. In his role, he and his team help client organizations to successfully compete globally across 140 countries in a turnkey manner, spanning multiple industry sectors and foreign markets. Jeff is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, and leads the Latin America Service Desk firm-wide. He also leads The Baker Tilly Center for the Return of Manufacturing - the company’s hallmark initiative to competitively restore key manufacturing sectors to the USA, to assisting foreign-owned companies to launch manufacturing facilities domestically, and in fueling exports of U.S. made products.

A dual citizen of the U.S. and Brazil, Jeff earned his MBA from The University of Michigan. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Design Engineering from Middle Tennessee State University, where he was the recipient of the Young Alumni Achievement Award – the highest University honor conferred upon a single Alumnus annually, and an honor shared with fellow award recipient James Buchannan (Nobel Prize in Economics ‘86).
