Maverick at Work: A Conversation with Dick Resch

Session Overview
Join KI CEO and philanthropist Dick Resch as he shares his views on leading a successful company. The renowned business maverick will discuss his personal business journey including his views on leadership, information transparency, workplace entrepreneurialism, employee ownership, risk, philanthropy and more. A hands-on CEO for more than 40 years, Mr. Resch is a nationally recognized chief executive responsible for growing KI into a global contract furniture manufacturer. He’s also known throughout northeastern Wisconsin for his countless philanthropic contributions. 

Biographies

Richard J. Resch
Dick joined KI in 1964 and held various positions until 1983 when he was elected President and CEO of KI.  Under his leadership, KI has grown from an obscure national furniture manufacturer to an internationally renowned, highly respected worldwide corporation. His educational background includes a Master in Business Administration from the Harvard School of Business and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Joe Burkard
Joe joined KI in 2006 and was named Vice President of Corporate Communications in 2007. He is responsible for managing the KI brand via a broad-based marketing communications program. Prior to joining KI, Joe spent several years with ShopKo Stores as Director of Creative Services. He also held marketing management positions with Sprint, Experian and JCPenney in Dallas, Texas. Joe graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a Minor in Public Relations.

Matthew Wirth
Matt Wirth is a Senior Consulting Manager for CDH, a national accounting and consulting firm. He has been consulting with privately held companies for over twenty years. CDH provides a service called Executive Focus. This service offers a process, tools and support to help management teams improve their performance. They design custom graphics packages which identify trends, relationships and performance drivers. The net effect is a system that fosters continuous improvement and enhances the bottom line. Matt has a BBA in accounting from the University of Milwaukee and is a CPA.

LinkedIn continues to evolve and financial executives need to have a presence and understanding of how to use this business networking tool beyond having a profile. Larry will help us better understand the new platform launched in Q1 of 2017. He will discuss specific functionality that will apply to any financial role or level from networking, sourcing talent for finance, accounting and treasury teams, and investigating acquisitions, conducting due diligence and performing proactive and reactive career searches.

Larry Kaufman is the Managing Director for the Midwest Region for Experis Finance overseeing sales and operations. He has been a global published LinkedIn speaker/trainer for over nine years. Larry has presented to CEO associations, Vistage (Vistage approved speaker), Renaissance Executive Forums, TMA (Turnaround Management Association), AM&AA (Alliance for Merger & Acquisition Advisors), and REIA (Real Estate Investment Association). In addition, he has presented to firms in many industries including the following: M & A firms, private equity firms, real estate, accounting, law, banks, hospitality/hotel industry, manufacturing and distribution industry, transportation, logistics, white glove delivery, construction, engineering, electrical contractors, and commercial flooring. Larry has also spoken to board members and human resource executives and he works with C-level outplacement organizations helping executives leverage LinkedIn to find their next senior level position.
 
Larry has been in sales and sales/operations leadership roles for the past 28 years. He has hired and developed inside and outside sales forces in healthcare, accounting and consulting firms. Larry has also worked on his own helping small to large companies recruit talent for their organizations, as well as facilitating corporate introductions to expand their client base.

Ed leads the Firm’s performance analytics and research team. His team performs ongoing capital markets and investment manager reviews for institutional clients, as well as asset allocation analysis and modern portfolio theory-based asset allocation optimizations. Ed’s team holds extensive contacts in the investment management and consulting industry and performs regular onsite due diligence meetings to remain at the forefront of industry trends.


Ed graduated from Marquette University with a Masters of Business Administration specializing in finance and attended Gustavus Adolphus College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree (graduated cum laude). Ed holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. He lives in Brookfield, Wisconsin with his wife and their two children.
