This course provides the basic foundations of five main systems of the Balance Method / System. The systems are rooted in the concept of healing the body by balancing meridians. Student will learn the history of the Balance Method/System, the basis of each of the Five Systems, and the logical processes for determining the meridians to acupuncture, including an easy-to-use format to outline the treatment plan. Learn how to apply the quick, efficient results effectively! Particular attention will be paid to musculo-skeletal conditions in this introductory level.
Pre-requisite: A license to practice Acupuncture*
*Any health care practitioner who is legally able to practice Acupuncture in their jurisdiction, with a minimum 250 hours of Acupuncture and foundational training.

Dr. Sonia F. Tan, has been helping guide people on their pathway to health in the TCM world since 2006. She is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, a Registered Acupuncturist, and a Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioner. Dr. Sonia Tan obtained her clinical research Doctorate degree from Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Los Angeles, California. She is also a graduate of the five year Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine program from the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Vancouver. Sonia is also a Certified Gold Level practitioner of the late Dr. Richard Tehfu Tan and the Balance Method of Acupuncture. She developed the first Certificate program in Balance Method / System Acupuncture at an accredited post-secondary institution - Langara College. She was honoured to be named and be a part of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Medical Teams. Dr. Sonia Tan has been teaching and keynote speaking at various conferences, institutions, and seminars since 2013. Sonia began her career in health with a Bachelor’s degree in Honors Kinesiology, with a specialization in Athletic Injuries, from the University of Western Ontario. While Dr. Tan enjoys variety and a general practice, her areas of passion and focus are in Immunology, Sport Medicine and Migraines & Headaches. Following in the footsteps of her grandfather, Sonia is a second generation Chinese metaphysician, is immersed in all aspects of Chinese Metaphysics, and thoroughly enjoys educating and inspiring about all things Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine!
