2018 MAKERS Series | Rooswork Studios

Rooswork is a custom fabrication studio, for with both private and commercial clients, that focuses on traditional woodworking and examines the possibilities of computer aided construction techniques.  Their facility located at 5401 Hamilton Avenue, will open up to AIA Cleveland for a behind the scenes look at their craft and process.

Learning Objectives:

  • Tour the woodworking facility and maker spaces to understand the unique processes between traditional woodworking and computer aided techniques.
  • Visualize and understand the materials and methods required of furniture, design, woodworking, hand-crafted construction and computer-aided-design, particularly as it pertains to safe constuction practices, durability, life-cycle value, preservation value and finish detailing.
  • Discuss the capabilities, strengths, and limitations of wood as it relates to different woodworking techniques and installations.
  • Explore how the iterative design process utilizing digital generative forms is an intergal part of fabrication and development of architectural geometry.

PROTECTIVE HARDHAT IS REQUIRED
