2018 Women in Architecture Celebration:

An Evening with Kate | Achieving an Equitable and Inclusive Profession
Featuring Kate Schwennsen, FAIA, in conversation with Rick Jackson, WVIZ/WCPN Ideastream

This exhilarating evening with Kate will explore how architecture is actively seeking and sustaining the participation of people with different places of origin, points of view, and ways of knowing, and will exemplify how minimizing barriers can keep architecture relevant, enrich design, provide meaningful engagement, and build stronger connections with our local, regional, and global communities.

Kate Schwennsen, FAIA, Director, School of Architecture, Clemson University, is a recognized leader in bridging architectural education and practice, with expertise on issues of design leadership, diversity, and evolving models of practice and education in architecture. Recent publications/presentations include: “Architectural Practice: A Critical View, Revisited”, "You Can't Just Add Women and Stir", "Sustainable Education Sustainable Profession", and "The Architect at Mid- (21st) Century".

Rick Jackson, Senior Host and Producer, is the award-winning senior host and producer of Ideas and NewsDepth news programs on WVIZ/PBS, and the Friday host of The Sound of Ideas® on 90.3 WCPN.  Jackson was honored as a 2001 inductee into Ohio’s Broadcasting Hall of Fame. He is also an of Emmy Award recipient, and has won awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, a Communicators Award, Women in Communications Awards and from the Associated Press.
