This program is a knowledge and application based educational program designed for pharmacists and technicians to acquire factual knowledge. Registration fees are listed in this brochure for members and non-members. 

acpe logoThe Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider for continuing pharmacy education. 6 contact hours are being offered for pharmacists, and 3 hours for pharmacy technicians. For completion of CE credit, participants must sign the sign-in sheets for each program attended, must attend the entirety of each program, and complete the online evlauation form.

Update on Alabama Board of Pharmacy 797/795 Inspections

1. Review standards and inspection criteria by which the Board of Pharmacy is reviewing institutional pharmacies, 2. Describe USP 797 and USP 795 criteria as they apply to institutional settings, 3. Identify the impact federal regulations 503a and 503b have on institutional pharmacy, 4. List the most common issues identified by the Board of Pharmacy during inspections, 5. Recognize new initiatives and practices which should be of concern to institutional pharmacies

Transitioning Inpatient to Outpatient with Home Infusion

1.  Describe the indications for parenteral cardiac inotropes which include congestive heart failure and cardiac decompensation, 2.  List the parenteral cardiac inotropic therapies used in the home setting, 3.  Explain the advantages of home parenteral cardiac inotropic therapy, 4.  Illustrate how a home infusion pharmacy must document the medical necessity for parenteral cardia inotropic therapy for a patient with heart failure

The ALSHP Annual Clinical Meeting for 2014 will have a new 2 day format, and be held on October 16th and 17th at the Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham, Alabama. We have assembled a tremendous faculty to present an excellent program for pharmacists, residents, students and technicians.

The pharmacists' program offers 7 hours total of ACPE approved Continuing Pharmacy Education.
SPECIAL EVENT:
For those interested, a Compounding Track will take place on Thursday afternoon, covering 797/795 inspections, transitioning patients from inpatient to home infusion, Cardiac Inotropes for heart failure patients, and a discussion session with experts.  

4 Hours of Consultant CE has been applied for.
