Reggio Beyond Pinterest

Saturday November 18, 2017       Time 9:30 am – 4:00 pm       6 hours

Fee: $95.00     FCC Fee: $80.00 (Promo Code)

The "Reggio Beyond Pinterest" series is designed to empower early learning and child care professionals to take ownership in their practice and recognize the underlying theories and values that uphold their actions. Bringing these underlying theories and beliefs to the surface will enable participants to confidently make changes to their existing practice to align it with their values and beliefs about children, childhood and learning. Taught in three sections, we will take a Reggio- Emilia inspired, social constructivist lens to examine concepts and practices related to your personal image of the child or personal pedagogy, early years environments, and emergent and responsive curriculums.

Objectives:

  • To explore the theories, values and beliefs behind the Reggio Emilia approach.
  • To understand how values and beliefs align with social constructivist theory to shape our practice.
  • To discuss how to help children develop problem solving skills.

*Suitable for students, novice, intermediate, adult instructors/administrators and experienced early learning child care professionals working with infant/toddlers, preschool to school age children, including children with extra support needs.

Presenter: Karen Begley. Karen is an Early Years Consultant and Elementary School Teacher. She has taught children of all ages, adults and families. She works with educators of all levels to simplify their practice by aligning it with their values and beliefs about children, childhood and learning. She is passionate about the rights of children, play, outdoor education, incorporating families into the learning process and creating a respectful community and curriculum to empower young learners.

*Bring a bag lunch (½ hour lunch).
