"Educating the Heart: Heart Mind Well Being"
What is Heart-Mind well-being? When we talk about Heart-Mind well-being, we are referring to the importance of not only focusing on developing the cognitive aspects (our minds) but also all the qualities that make us human (our hearts) and ultimately give us meaning in our lives. Research demonstrates the positive impacts of focusing on developing our hearts- and the way we "feel" and "relate to one another". The heart and mind are interconnected, and educating the heart has positive benefits for children and youth’s academic success. The Dalai Lama Center has conceptualized Heart-Mind Well-Being as five inter-related social and emotional development domains.
Speaker: Kareen Hudson. Kareen is the Director of Programs at the Dalai Lama Center. As an experienced registered Social Worker with a deep rooted history and commitment to the welfare of our children, Kareen draws from an extensive career within the BC not for profit, education and health sectors and maintains a private counselling and consulting practice in Vancouver.
We look forward to seeing you and connecting once again at this annual event!
