Course Description

This presentation will offer a way to develop a systematic approach to assessing a person’s character functioning and well-being. It involves quantitative and qualitative self-report data and a clinical interview to develop a holistic conception of client functioning. The rst portion of the day will be introducing the measure and its components. The second portion of the presentation will be going through an example, including the interview, data, write up and feedback delivery process.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn the philosophy of therapeutic assessment and evidence to support it, and identify the three primary benefits to beginning treatment with a systematic assessment.

2. Consider the five different domains of character functioning and list the five maladaptive patters. 
3. Discuss the three primary areas of the well-being checkup and list their key domains
4. Practice interpreting a profile and help construct a wirte up.  Discuss various ways to frame feedback.

Speaker Information

Dr. Gregg Henriques is a Professor of Graduate Psychology at James Madison University, where he directs the APA-Approved Combined-Integrated Doctoral Program in Clinical-School Psychology. He is also Membership Chair for Division 24 of the APA (Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology). Dr. Henriques received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Vermont. Dr. Henriques teaches courses in personality theory, personality assessment, social psychology, and integrative adult psychotherapy. Dr. Henriques’ primary area of scholarly interest is in the development of a new unified theory of psychology; he also is studying character and wellbeing, and working to develop a more unified approach to psychotherapy. He is a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia.

National Associate of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) Credits - 5.5 hours
"This course has been approved by CHEP as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider for 5.5 CEs.  NAADAC provider number 62665, CHEP is responsible for all aspects of their programming."

Board of Social Work Examiners West Virginia (WVSW) Credits - 5.5 hours
"The Well-Being Checkup System" scheduled for May 7, 2019 and the VAMC Bldg 217, Martinsburg, WV has been approved by the WV Board of Social Work Examiners for 5.5 CEU's; provider number 499999.

American Psychological Association (APA) Credits - 5.5 hours
Chesapeake Health Education Program, Inc. is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychoogists.  Chesapeake Health Education Inc. maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Maryland SW Credits - 5.5 hours
Maryland Social Workers - Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners: "Chesapeake Health Education Program, Inc. is authorized by the Board of Social Work Examiners in Maryland to sponsor social work continuing education programs and maintains full responsibility for this program.  This training qualifies for Category 1 continuing education credits."

National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Credits - 5.5 hours

Evaluation and Certificate:

All attendees are required to sign-in in order to receive credits.  Sign-in sheets will be available at the registration desk for up to 30 minutes prior to the start of the program and 30 minutes after the start of the program. 

An evaluation will be emailed to you within two business days of the program's completion.  Once you complete and submit this evaluation, your certificate will automatically generate to be saved or printed.

APA Certificate fee - $10 additional to registration

Registration will close end of day on May 2nd; however, we do accept onsite registration.

Registration includes light breakfast items starting at 8:30am.  Lunch is not included.

If you are registering as a Department of VA Employee, you will be required to show proof of current employment via government issued VA ID badge at check in.  If you do not have your badge, you will not be granted access to the program or you can choose to pay the regular rate.
